Facebook and Instagram users didn’t let a global pandemic damp their enthusiasm for Father’s Day, as it was far and away the hottest Hot Topic for June 2020 on both platforms, according to research arm Facebook IQ.Father’s Day was joined in the Holidays & Events category by Juneteenth and Independence Day.The fight for racial equality was top-of-mind last month, as the People & Culture category on Facebook was led by Colin Kaepernick, Abraham Lincoln and John Roberts, while Instagram was paced by Martin Luther King Jr., Kaepernick and Lincoln.Nascar driver Bubba Wallace topped both platforms in the Sports category, trailed by National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell on Facebook and by soccer’s Premier League on Instagram.The Entertainment category was paced by Kelly Clarkson and Looney Tunes on Facebook, while Teyana Taylor and Dave Chappelle led the way on Instagram last month.The Brands & Products category for June was led by Old Spice and the American Civil Liberties Union on Facebook, and by GoFundMe and Old Spice on Instagram.Finally, in the Food & Drink category, Facebook users washed down their life cuisine with Stella Artois, while Instagrammers alternated between Lebanese cuisine and junk food.Facebook IQ measured subjects that drove disproportionately high volumes of discussion on both social platforms, marking the latest in a Facebook-Adweek Hot Topics monthly series that began in 2015.Check out the data-based graphics below to learn more about recent, topical social trends: Facebook IQ Facebook IQ
