44 cases of COVID-19 reported in SLO Co. Tuesday

San Luis Obispo County reported 44 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 611 confirmed cases as of June 30.

It’s the county’s largest single-day increase in cases since the pandemic began.

Fourteen people are hospitalized, including six patients who are in the ICU.

Another 140 people are recovering at home and 456 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had one death attributed to COVID-19.

Free coronavirus tests are currently available in Grover Beach and San Luis Obispo.

A pop-up testing clinic will be located in Atascadero from Monday, July 6, through Thursday, July 9.

Health officials say 267 of the county’s total cases are the result of the patient having direct contact with a person who tested positive for the virus; 212 cases are attributed to community spread; and, 72 cases are the result of travel outside the county. Sixty cases are still under investigation.

  • Templeton – 22
  • Grover Beach – 20
  • Pismo Beach – 18
  • San Miguel – 14
  • California Men’s Colony inmates – 11
  • Los Osos – 12
  • Morro Bay – 10
  • Oceano – 10
  • Shandon – 6
  • Cambria – 5

An additional 21 cases are in communities with fewer than five cases, and the Public Health Department is not identifying those locations. The location of four cases is listed as “unknown.”
